It has never been a more interesting time for electric vehicles. From just a handful of viable electric cars and vans a few years ago, 2019 will see numerous new models and upgrades hit the forecourts.
So what can we expect in 2019?
On the larger cross over/jeep category, expect to see the Ds3 crossback (etense) on our roads along with a BMW version of the Audi Etron – the BMW IX3.
In the medium sized family car category expect to see a new look Hyundai Ioniq (with a bigger battery) as well as plenty more Kia e-Niros and e-Souls. The Nissan Leaf e-plus will also be available.
There are some very interesting small hatchbacks about to be launched including offerings from Opel (Corsa-e), the new Renault Zoe, Peugeot (e-208) and BMW Mini all launching EV’s. Also expect a number of cars from the VW stable including the i.d 3.
Expect also to start seeing the long awaited (especially those that have ordered around the time of the initial booking time!) Tesla Model 3 hit our roads, towards the end of the year and into 2020. Mooted as a car of the people by Elon Musk when first devised, the final price of the performance version won’t see much change from €65,000 – mere mortals need not apply..
